All our digital photographs have been taken with a Canon S2 IS.   We chose this model because of the x 12 zoom and have recently started using 1.5 teleconverter lens for very distant shots.  The camera is 5MP, but we've found that is not a problem.  A higher megapixel requires a lot more storage and the photograph would have to be downgraded to fit in with bandwidth purposes in any case.

Two newer models of the camera have been relased since with increasing MP:  these are the Canon S3 IS and the Canon S5 IS.

The zoom on both is still x 12 but there are x3 teleconverter lens now available that will fit for all these models.  There are also filters, wide angle and fish eye lens available for them.
